Tomic Features in Catalonia/Dalmatia Masterclass at Dalmacija Wine Expo


This year's Dalmacija Wine Expo in Split was another successful promotion of the wines of Dalmatia. The event, which took place at Radisson Blu in Split, included various seminars and other events, and Bastijana was delighted to be included in a fascinating masterclass on the wines of Catalonia and Dalmatia by wine expert Miquel Hudin of Vinologue.

The Tomic Plavac Mali 2008 Barrique was one of only three wines from Dalmatia featured in the class, with the other two winemakers represented bring Bibich and Rizman - nice company! Thanks Miquel for a very interesting presentation, and we look forward to seeing you in Jelsa soon.

Andro Tomic Attends Exclusive Wine Tasting Event on Solta


A little island-hopping for Andro Tomic this weekend, as the Bastijana chief was delighted to accept an invitation to perform an exclusive wine tasting with just two other international winemakers at the exclusive Martinis Marchi on the island of Solta. 

The event was promoted by the organisers thus: Enjoy and discover three very different European wine regions presented by the "three masters of wine".

Andro was joined by "Marchesi Fumanelli" (Italy, Valpolicella) and "Meßmer wine estate" (Germany, Palatinate), and the Tomic wines served on a very pleasant evening all round were Opolo Nobile, Beleca, Plavac mali barrique 2009 and Prošek.

Visit Tomic at Dalmacija Wine Expo in Split


Living in Split and looking to taste Tomic wines?

The team from Bastijana will once more be attending Dalmcija Wine Expo at the Radisson Blu Hotel, with will be held today and tomorrow. Doors open for professionals and the trade at 11:00, with the general public allowed entrance from 15:00 on both days, until 20:00.

Bastijana Welcomes The Sunday Times to Jelsa


The international media promotion continues.

Bastijana was delighted to welcome journalist Alex Robinson from The Sunday Times for a tour of the Jelsa winery earlier this week.

Alex, who has been short-listed for this year's Croatian Zlatna Penkala (Golden Pen) award, was on the island for three days to do a story for the UK's most influential quality tourism newspaper, Sunday Times Travel, on the cultural and gastro highlights on Hvar beyond the party and celebrity lifestyle.

Alex enjoyed a tasting of the Tomic range. Thank you for your visit, and we look forward to welcoming you again, and of course, reading The Sunday Times impressions of this beautiful island.

Calling Split Rose Lovers: A Rose Offer at Enoteka Terra


A nice weekend offer for all rose lovers in Split, as Enoteka Terra has seven of Croatia's finest roses on at special promotional prices, according to a report in Slobodna Dalmacija.

Included in the seven is the Tomic Opolo Nobile, which is being sold by the bottle at just 69,90. Slobodna writes that the wine comes from grapes from central Hvar, has a fine pink colour, fruity nose and a refreshing fruity flavour.

The 2014 Beleca is in the Bottle!


A busy day at Bastijana earlier this week, as the bottling machine was pressed into action to prepare the 2014 Beleca for the market.

Beleca is becoming an increasingly popular white wine on the Croatian restaurant scene, and the 2014 is now ready for purchase. A blend of the indigenous Hvar grape Bogdanusa and the more powerful Posip, it is 12.5% and very ready for early summer drinking.

Easter of course is a very important celebration on Hvar, and the UNESCO-protected Za Krizen Easter procession is one of the most important events of the Hvar calendar. 

National television was in Jelsa and Pitve to record the event, and Andro Tomic was interviewed as part of a reort by Karmen Sore for Dobro Jutro Hrvatska (Good Morning Croatia). You can watch the report with Andro below.

Tomic Features Heavily in Top Hvar Wine Tours of 2015


Wine tourism is on the increase on Hvar, and the team at Bastijana is ready and waiting to give you the best possible introduction to the wines of Hvar.

Organised wine tours of the island are still in their infancy, but they are becoming more professionally organised with each season, and Bastijana work with a number of agencies to receive guests in the Romanesque cellars in Jelsa.
