The Harmonious Sounds of Fermentation at Tomic

Following the example of our great architect Bašić and his famous organs, we in our vinery are also trying to create sound, harmonious sound. Silent fermentation of wine frees up the carbon dioxide which, while passing through the entry point of the tank, produces certain sound which depends on the phase of fermentation and the level of new vine in the tank, which can be regulated. In that way, we produce harmonious sound chords which entertain us during picking and processing of grapes.

Andro Tomic Welcomes Cliff Rames and Fred Dex MS to Jelsa

An American wine theme in Jelsa last night, as Andro Tomic was on hand with other winemakers to welcome two distinguished wine experts from the United States for a dinner with wine tasting at new Jelsa winebar Artichoke.

Cliff Rames is a great friend of Croatian wine and the international pioneer of wine promotion for the country, and he has made a magnificent contribution from his New York base with his Wines of Croatia blog.

Cliff has been joined on this trip by Master Sommelier Fred Dex, on his first trip to Croatia, and what better place to start than in the town of wine in Jelsa. The two managed a quick trip to visit Master of Wine Jo Ahearne and her operation in Sveta Nedjlelja before sitting down to check out the latest from the Hvar wine scene.

Thanks for your visit Cliff and Fred, and we look forward to your next visit. Keep up the promotion, States side!

Tomic Named in Top Hvar Wine Tasting Experiences

Wine tourism on Hvar has really taken off in the last few years, and the team at Bastijana is busy throughout the year, welcoming groups from 2 to 300 to the Tomic cellars in Jelsa. Wine tasting gives tourists a chance to try some wines from grape varieties usually unfamiliar to them, and the tasting experience has become an important promotion for the island's winemakers. Here are five great tasting experiences on Hvar, including Tomic.

The Bastijana team is ready for your visit. Simply book your tasting in advance via our website.

Tomic Taking Part in Festival Cerealia in Stari Grad Tomorrow

Tomic wines are in action once more tonight in a rather different festival in Stari Grad, as explained by the Hvar Wine Association:

We are honoured to announce the first in a series of reciprocal visits in cooperation with Italian organizations. This year’s visit to Rome, as part of a tour “Presentation of the island of Hvar, Hvar culture and wine” organized by the Croatian Embassy in Rome, has resulted in cooperation with Festival Cerealia. Cerealia is a festival dedicated to cereal grains such as wheat and barley, and the idea comes from ancient Rome. http://www.cerealialudi.org/ Read more...
